Landrieu Campaigner SeDestini Monette Fields Killed by Pickup Truck
A Saturday morning accident in West Shreveport has taken the life of SeDestini Monette Fields, a 23-year-old campaigner for Sen. Mary Landrieu from Shreveport.
According to a press release from Police Cpl. Marcus Hines, Fields was hit at approximately 11:00 a.m., after a 2007 Chevrolet pickup truck steered off the road in the 6400 block of Buncombe Rd.
Fields, who was a pedestrian, suffered serious injuries. She was taken to University Health Shreveport, where she died.
The driver of the pickup truck has been identified as Diane Patrick, 43, of Keithville. According to the press release, evidence shows Patrick was driving northbound on Buncombe Rd when her truck left the road and struck Fields, who was walking on the shoulder. It is unknown if Patrick was impaired at the time of the fatal accident.
The incident remains under investigation.
“We want to acknowledge (Fields) and her family tonight, and we’ve all been saddened, our hearts are broken, and her family, of course, is in mourning,” said Sen. Landrieu during her concession speech Saturday night, after losing her re-election campaign to Rep. Bill Cassidy.
