As 57-year-old cyclist Richard Green was riding along the northbound lane of Highway 115 he was struck by a vehicle at the intersection. According to the police report, Green was attempting to cross the roadway when he was hit by a vehicle driven by a 31-year-old Marksville woman.
Green was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident and died from the injuries he sustained. Louisiana law prohibits riding away from the right side of the road, and officials believe that if Green was doing both of those things he may have survived the accident.
At the time of the report the name of driver was not released and toxicology test results had not been received.
