A recent fatal motorcycle accident at the intersection of Flournoy Lucas Road and Ashley Ridge Road in South Shreveport has raised questions on the safety of the intersection.
Two years ago, another accident occurred when a motorcyclist lost control and crashed into a pickup. According to police reports, the driver of the pickup truck tried to avoid hitting the motorcyclist but was unable to because they were traveling too close to each other.
The most recent accident occurred when a car struck a motorcyclist going eastbound on East Flournoy. Neighbors from a nearby subdivision believe that there is just too much congestion in the intersection, especially during rush hour times.
Some neighbors believe that a traffic light or decreased speed limit could help control that chaos. It has been alleged that the Department of Transportation and Development has said that the intersection is just not busy enough yet to warrant a traffic light. However, in light of these accidents, the families who have lost a loved one here hope that the Department reconsiders making changes.
