Ecoato-brand Sweet Paprika Powder sold in 17 states, including Louisiana, is being recalled because it could be contaminated with Salmonella.
TJX Companies announced the recall of the spice, sold in its T.J. Maxx, Marshalls or HomeGoods stores, yesterday. The powder was sold between June and July 2014 and is marked as lot #8147, according to a release by TJX Companies.
According to the U.S. Food & Drug Administration, 150 units were sold during that time period in a total of 19 states, including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, and many more northern states.
No illnesses have been reported in connection with the contaminated products, however, consumers who purchased the Paprika Powder are urged to return the product to the store they purchased it at for a full refund.
The potential for contamination was noted when the Food & Drug Administration spot tested the product and found a presence of Salmonella in some samples of the product.
