A 12-year-old boy walking to school Wednesday morning in Baton Rouge is in critical condition after being struck by a motor vehicle.
According to police spokesman Cpl. L’Jean McKneely Jr., a 27-year-old woman driving on Evangeline Street near North Foster around 7:30 a.m. lost control of her vehicle, swerved off the road and hit the child.
According to investigators, they believe she lost control of her vehicle as result of mechanical failure. They have not revealed the type of vehicle she was driving and are still working on the investigation.
The identity of the driver and child involved in the collision have not been revealed.
Each year millions of vehicles are recalled due to manufacturing errors that could be putting drivers, passengers and the public in danger. In 2014, millions of General Motors vehicles were recalled due to a faulty ignition switch that could cause the engine to unexpectedly shut off, which led to loss of vehicle control.
At Simien & Simien, our injury lawyers believe that when car accidents occur, the individuals responsible for the collision need to be held accountable for their actions. Whether the crash occurred due to a driver error or mechanical failure caused by a manufacturing error – we can help you get justice.
