Police Officer Injured in Five-Car Accident in LaFayette
A LaFayette police officer was directing traffic at Our Lady of Fatima School when he, and two civilians, were injured in a five-vehicle crash on Johnston Street.
According to police spokesman Corporal Paul Mouton, a Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling north on Johnston Street and struck a car that was leaving the school parking lot. The Tahoe veered onto the southbound lane of Johnston Street and crashed into the officer and three other vehicles stopped in traffic.
Two people were transported to the hospital with minor injuries along with the police officer. He was released from the hospital in good condition.
The crash remains under investigation and no one has been charged or fined for a traffic violation. The names of the officer and civilians involved in the incident have not been released.
